Check-ups
What is it?
Your dentist will check your teeth and gums for signs of tooth decay, gingivitis, and other health problems. Your dental hygienist will begin to clean your teeth by scraping hard mineral buildup (tartar) off of your teeth with a small metal tool. Then the hygienist will floss your teeth and use a polishing compound.
Who it’s for:
-
Dental check-ups are suitable for everyone, regardless of age or oral health status. They are essential for maintaining, monitoring, and improving oral health, even for those who do not currently experience pain or symptoms.
-
Target Audience for Regular Check-ups (Every 6 Months):
-
Children and Infants: The first visit should occur within 6 months of the first tooth appearing or by 12 months of age.
-
Teens and Adults: Standard check-ups are recommended once or twice a year to maintain oral health.
-
Patients with Good Oral Hygiene: Regular visits are necessary to prevent tartar buildup, even if you brush and floss daily.
-
Target Audience for More Frequent Check-ups (Every 3–4 Months):
-
Individuals with High Risk: People with gum (periodontal) disease, a history of cavities, or high tobacco/alcohol use.
-
Patients with Specific Health Conditions: Those with diabetes, weak immune systems, or those who are pregnant.
-
Individuals with Braces or Oral Appliances: Those needing closer monitoring for orthodontics.

How the procedure works:
A dental check-up is a routine, preventive, and diagnostic procedure typically performed every six months to maintain oral health, detect potential problems early, and clean teeth. The procedure combines a professional cleaning by a dental hygienist and a comprehensive examination by a dentist, usually lasting between 45 and 90 minutes.

Comfort and safety
Comfort and safety-focused dental check-ups are designed to reduce anxiety and ensure a secure, gentle experience through modern, patient-first practices. These appointments generally include comprehensive examinations, digital diagnostics, and professional cleanings, with options for sedation and comfort amenities to accommodate nervous patients.
